Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) February 29, 2012

The 2012 series of PAINWeekEnd Regional Conferences will commence on March 24-25 in Dallas. Debuting in 2011, PAINWeekEnd Regional Conferences are 2-day programs of continuing education in pain management designed expressly for frontline practitioners. PAINWeekEnd is sponsored by Global Education Group and produced by Aventine Co., developers of PAINWeek®, the nation’s largest annual conference on pain.

In mid-February, the US Senate heard expert testimony during the first congressional hearing ever held on chronic pain and pain management. Contributing to the hearing were Philip Pizzo, MD, Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine, and Lawrence Tabak, DDS, PhD, the principal deputy director of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Pizzo, chair of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) committee that issued the 2011 report, “Relieving Pain in America,” observed that “The scope of the problem in pain management is truly daunting,” and noted that the current number of 4000 pain specialists in the US was “not nearly enough.” Dr. Tabak predicted that the number of people suffering from chronic pain, —already estimated at some 116 million— is likely to grow because the US population is getting older and because of improving survival rates from diseases that cause chronic pain.

Commenting on these developments and the PAINWeekEnd Series, Debra Weiner, Aventine Managing Partner and Director of Program Development noted, “Much attention has been brought to bear on the crisis of inadequate pain management. PAINWeekEnd Regional Conferences are a part of our coordinated response to the need for more and better education for frontline practitioners who are charged with treating patients with chronic pain. The conference is offered on the weekend in 6 different cities during 2012, providing a convenient local venue for healthcare providers who want to optimize their knowledge of pain management which is why they are referred to as 'Serious Free Time.’”

PAINWeekEnd Conference attendees (physicians, nursing professionals, physician assistants, and pharmacists) will be able to earn up to 11 CE/CME credit hours via a diverse course agenda presented by a multidisciplinary faculty. In addition, there will be commercially supported activities, both certified and noncertified, addressing a range of product, disease state, and medical information topics.

The online registration fee for PAINWeekEnd Conferences is $75;overnight accommodations for the Dallas conference are also available at a specially-negotiated rate of at the Crowne Plaza Dallas Downtown.
