A Caress or a Slap?
Fibromyalgia has frequently been referred to as the most common chronic widespread pain disorder. Many investigators have viewed fibromyalgia as a central nervous system disorder of sensory amplification resulting in many symptoms including chronic pain. Recently, however, others have reported conditions affecting the peripheral nervous system in which chronic widespread pain sensory amplification has been reported. This session will focus on how various mechanisms underlying sensory amplification may be associated with various clinical phenotypes. (Recorded at PAINWeek 2016)
