Vitamin D: Promising Treatment for Pain and Depression from Diabetes?

Research conducted at Loyola University, Chicago, and presented at a research conference there in October indicates that weekly vitamin D2 supplementation significantly improved symptoms of depression and decreased neuropathic pain in study subjects with type 2 diabetes. While the effects of Vitamin D on other pain conditions has been studied, this is the first to investigate the role of Vitamin D supplementation on this association.
