Welcome Reception

Plan to meet fellow attendees, faculty, and exhibitors at the PAINWeek Welcome Reception, Wednesday September 5th.

Keynote Address

We will announce the keynote speaker for 2012 in the Spring.

The Keynote Address at PAINWeek 2011 was delivered by Kevin Pho, MD, a nationally recognized opinion leader in the use of social media (blogging, Facebook, Twitter, etc) in health care by both patients and clinicians. As social media's leading physician voice, Dr. Pho blogs at MedPage Today's KevinMD.com. Voted the best medical blog of 2008, KevinMD.com is the web’s most influential health care social platform, with over 100,000 subscribers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and RSS. Forbes.com called KevinMD.com a "must-read health blog," and CNN.com named KevinMD.com one of its five recommended Twitter health feeds.

Dr. Pho received his medical degree and completed residency at Boston University School of Medicine and is a member of the 2010 class of New Hampshire’s 40 Under Forty, recognizing the state’s emerging leaders. He is board certified in internal medicine and practices primary care in Nashua, New Hampshire. He is a member of USA Today’s Board of Contributors, and his opinion pieces appear in both national and local publications, including USA Today, CNN.com, and the New York Times.

SPECIAL EXHIBIT HALL FEATURE: Living Beyond Pain: A Gallery of Creative Expression

The Living Beyond Pain Gallery is a multimedia showcase that presents creative expressions of prevailing—real-life stories of coping, managing, and moving beyond pain, created by people with pain and their caregivers. The Gallery houses a variety of media formats, including art video, music, personal narratives, and poetry. A creative competition, with prizes, is being conducted from among gallery participants during 2011-2012. Selected gallery contributions will be on display. The Living Beyond Pain Gallery is an element of a new program expressly designed for people with chronic pain and those who care for them: Life Beyond Pain.

Patients with pain and their caregivers are invited to participate, and healthcare providers are encouraged to share this opportunity with their patients. Visit lifebeyondpain.org for more details.
